ARDENNES - JETONS FACTORY IN SEDAN

(1614-1642)

A factory of banal tokens exists in Sedan from the years 1613-1614. It was entrusted to Daniel Goffin, a Protestant engraver based in Givonne near Sedan. The tokens produced are imitations of royal tokens and are made using mechanical tools with which the Principality of Sedan is equipped. A five-pointed star is found as a different on many of these tokens. This workshop probably closed with the abandonment of the principality to France in 1642.
