Avec l’intégralité de son argenture superficielle. Rubans de type 3 aux extrémités bouletées. Cuirasse lisse pointée. Épaulière cloutée. Ptéryges larges. Une des dernières apparitions du buste cuirassé seul. Au revers, la lettre d’officine semble regravée (S surT ou S/P, la base du S étant formée par un croissant). Ce type semble plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux. Philippe Ferrando n’a recensé que onze exemplaires dont sept en mains privées.

On the reverse, the officinal letter seems re-engraved (S over T or S/P, the base of the S being formed by a crescent). This type seems rarer than general works suggest. Philippe Ferrando has only identified eleven examples, seven of which are in private hands.

Augustus
Constantine was born in 274, son of Constance Chlore and Helena. He was named Caesar on the death of his father on July 25, 306 and was proclaimed august on December 25, 307. He married Fausta, the daughter of Maximien Hercule, who gave him five children, three of whom were augusts. The first twenty years of his reign are devoted to imposing himself as the main august against Maximian Hercules, Galerius, Maxentius, Maximin II and Licinius. He is recognized as the first Christian emperor, although baptized only on his deathbed on May 22, 337.
