Cet exemplaire correspond au B. 6357 dans le Supplément du Belfort, à partir de l’exemplaire du musée de Tournus. Ce monétaire est attesté à Poitiers, à Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne (Savoie), et à Semur (Côte-d’Or).
L’attribution à Poitiers et possible mais n’est pas certaine.

(late 7th - early 8th century)

Many denarii from Poitiers have a radiated head, as in Orleans. These denarii were struck at the end of the 7th and the beginning of the 8th century, since they are found in the treasury of Plassac (Gironde) hidden around 710-730. The Merovingian coinage of the Poitevine region is quite diversified, with triens and a wide variety of denarii. The proximity of the silver mines of Melle is certainly no coincidence.
