Acarnania regained its independence after the defeat of Cynoscephales in 197 BC and the proclamation of the freedom of the Greek city-states at the Isthmian Games of 196 BC by Flaminius. The coinage seems to have lasted until the fall of the Macedonian kingdom in 168 BC..
