Médaille décernée aux époux : Louis de Ranst de Berchem (1831-1895) et Marie Seguier de Saint Brisson (1845-1911) héritière des marquis de Saint Brisson.
La famille de Ranst de Berchem est une ancienne famille féodale du duché de Brabant tandis que la famille Séguier est une famille anoblie en 1550 par la charge de conseiller à la Chambre des comptes de Paris.
Medal awarded to the spouses: Louis de Ranst de Berchem (1831-1895) and Marie Seguier de Saint Brisson (1845-1911), heiress of the Marquises of Saint Brisson. The Ranst de Berchem family is an old feudal family of the Duchy of Brabant, while the Séguier family was ennobled in 1550 by the position of advisor to the Chamber of Accounts of Paris.

LOVE AND MARRIAGE
It was customary in the past to give a treizain during the wedding mass. This treizain was blessed and signified entry into a community of property for the married couple. The treizain, which later became a medal or wedding token, was so called in honor of Jesus Christ and the twelve apostles. This practice continued until the first half of the 20th century. The reference work on the subject is the work of Jules Florange, Love and marriage in numismatics, Moulins, 1936 now replaced by that of Henri Térisse, La Numismatique du Mariage, Argenton-sur-Creuse 2008.
