评论
Cet exemplaire présente un carré perlé particulièrement net avec un petit annelet non pointé au centre. Au droit, l’un des V est remplacé par un petit segment.
Trois des quatre exemplaires d’Oxford proviennent du trésor de Aston Rowant.
This example has a particularly clean pearl square with a small, unpointed annulet in the center. On the obverse, one of the Vs is replaced by a small segment. Three of the four Oxford examples come from the Aston Rowant hoard.

历史细节
ENGLAND - ANGLO-SAXONS
(7th - 8th centuries)
If the minting of these coins is to be located at the beginning of the 8th century, in Great Britain, it is not exceptional to find them in Gaul. They are often confused with Merovingian silver coins (cf. MONNAIES XIX, n° 503, sceattas c. 680-710, classified in Merovingian denier of Laon). During the 8th century, the style of these pieces is more and more degenerated, they are often in ridge or filled. These coins disappeared from circulation in the second half of the 8th century.
