En Octobre 1996, avec l'acquisition de Banco de Fomento e Exterior (BFE) et Banco Borges & Irmão (BBI), a commencé le processus d'intégration des trois banques BPI Group, qui a culminé en Juillet 1998 création de la Banque d' investissement portugais.
