v55_0531 - BITURIGES CUBI, INCERTI Bronze au loup et au pégase - à l’annelet pointé

Ce type précis, avec l’annelet pointé au revers, est complètement inédit et manque tant au Nouvel Atlas qu’au Nash. Si le revers est inconnu, il se rapproche des exemplaires à la rouelle. Les deux exemplaires à la rouelle du Nash sont de deux types différents ; le n° 580 a une sorte de tête stylisée au droit tandis que le n° 581 est du même type que notre bronze.
Les monnaies Nash 578-579 et 581 semblent être issues du même coin de droit que ce bronze. Ces trois monnaies (= BN. 4283, 4289 et 4295) proviennent de Levroux et semblent avoir été mal comprises par D. Nash ; le droit de notre exemplaire restitue une tête de loup à gauche et non pas à droite, reconnaissable avec un gros oeil et les oreilles marquées.
This specific type, with the pointed annulet on the reverse, is completely new and is missing from both the New Atlas and the Nash. While the reverse is unknown, it is similar to the wheel examples. The two wheel examples of the Nash are of two different types; No. 580 has a sort of stylized head on the obverse, while No. 581 is of the same type as our bronze. Nash coins 578-579 and 581 appear to come from the same obverse die as this bronze. These three coins (= BN. 4283, 4289, and 4295) come from Levroux and appear to have been misunderstood by D. Nash; the obverse of our example shows a wolf's head on the left, not the right, recognizable by a large eye and marked ears.
