Même coin de droit que l’exemplaire de l’American Numismatic Society (ANS. 1250). Une petite paille sur le postérieur du cheval au droit. Ce type se rencontre dans les trésors de Tarente, 1883 (IGCH 2006) et de Fasano (IGCH 2007) tous deux enfouis vers 228 avant J.-C. Infime petite cassure de coin perceptible derrière le postérieur du cheval au droit.
Same obverse die as the American Numismatic Society specimen (ANS. 1250). A small flaw on the horse's hindquarters on the obverse. This type is found in the Tarentum, 1883 (IGCH 2006) and Fasano (IGCH 2007) hoards, both buried around 228 BC. A tiny die break is visible behind the horse's hindquarters on the obverse.

Autonomous - Second Treaty with the Romans
In 272 BC, Taranto surrendered, after a long siege, to the consul Lucius Papirius Cursor. After the departure of Pyrrhus, Taranto submitted to Rome. Under the impetus of Consul Spurius Carvilius Maximus, Taranto, an ally of Rome at first, finally rallied to Hannibal in 213 BC. The Roman garrison, taking refuge on the acropolis of Taranto, resisted for five years. The city was finally submitted by Fabius Maximus in 209 BC who reduced most of the population to slavery, thirty thousand people according to Livy (XXVI, 39).
