Exemplaire sur un flan large. A été légèrement nettoyé anciennement. Très beau portrait parfaitement centré avec son grènetis complet, légèrement aplati sur le front. Revers bien venu à la frappe avec un beau portrait du taureau androcéphale. Décentré sur la légende à l’exergue. En revanche, la Niké est complète, parfaitement visible et semble bien “flotter” au-dessus du taureau

Au droit, derrière la tête de la nymphe, l’astragale est l’ancêtre de notre jeu d’osselet. Ce symbole se retrouve associé à plusieurs monogrammes qui semblent former une série homogène. Sur notre nomos, le monogramme est difficile à interpréter et doit être lu en rétrograde.

CAMPANIA - NEAPOLIS
(340-241 BC)
Neapolis, of very ancient creation, was first founded by Rhodian settlers under the name of Parthenope in the 8th century BC. The city was then colonized by the inhabitants of Cumae a century later. In the 5th century BC under the impetus of Chalcidian and Athenian colonists, the city took its definitive name of Neapolis (Naples). The Samnites eventually invaded Campania and occupied the citadel of Naples for over fifty years. Finally the Romans seized Naples in the 3rd century BC. The city nevertheless remained Hellenized and maintained its independence until 241 BC..
