Exemplaire sur un flan ovale, irrégulier. Usure très importante au droit. Parfaitement identifiable. Au revers la légende est hors flan à l’exergue, mais très joli taureau androcéphale où l’on distingue nettement ses traits ainsi que ceux de la petite Niké, très élégante. A été nettoyé anciennement

Semble de mêmes coins que l’exemplaire de l’American Numismatic Society (ANS. n° 552, pl. 15) qui semble encore en plus mauvais état que notre exemplaire ainsi que celui du Cabinet des médailles de la BnF qui ne présente pas de liaison de coin avec notre exemplaire (SNG. France 6./ 1088, pl. 73). Notre nomos semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux.
Seems to have the same dies as the example from the American Numismatic Society (ANS. No. 552, pl. 15) which seems to be in even worse condition than our example, as well as the one from the Cabinet des médailles of the BnF which does not have a die connection with our example (SNG. France 6./ 1088, pl. 73). Our nomos seems much rarer than general works suggest.

CAMPANIA - NOLA
(400-385 BC)
Nola was a city located in the region of Naples, half Greek and half Etruscan. During the second Samnite war, the Romans seized it in 315 before J. - C. The city remained faithful to the Roman alliance during the second Punic war. She played a role during the Social War where she was one of the main rebel cities of southern Italy finally submitted by Sylla in 89 BC. During the civil war which opposed the Marianists to the supporters of Sylla, she took the party of the first and was finally severely punished by the forces of the second. It received the name of Colonia Felix Augusta Nolana under Augustus.
