Exemplaire de poids théorique 14 grammes (?). Frappé avec des coins repolis qui donnent au flan un aspect bombé caractéristiques. Exemplaire tardif frappé probablement sous le Consulat. La concession de ce canal, appelé aussi canal des Deux-Mers ou du Forez, fut accordée en 1761 par ordonnance royale à François Zacharie. Son fils Guillaume reprit l’affaire et l’organisa en société en 1774. La compagnie obtint en 1788 une concession perpétuelle, le canal fonctionnait depuis 1780. Le canal fut acheté par l’État en 1886. Les jetons sont l’œuvre de Benjamin Duvivier mais on doit noter que des frappes furent effectuées jusqu’en 1804 avec un poids théorique de 13,38 grammes. D’autres frappes de poids 14 et 15 grammes théoriques furent effectuées.

The concession for this canal, also called the Canal des Deux-Mers or the Forez, was granted in 1761 by royal decree to François Zacharie. His son Guillaume took over the business and organized it into a company in 1774. The company obtained a perpetual concession in 1788; the canal had been in operation since 1780. The canal was purchased by the State in 1886. The tokens are the work of Benjamin Duvivier, but it should be noted that strikes were made until 1804 with a theoretical weight of 13.38 grams. Other strikes with theoretical weights of 14 and 15 grams were made.
