En 1818, est fondée la première école navale sous le nom de Academia de Jóvenes Guardias Marinas. En 1945, elle prend le nom de Escuela Naval Arturo Prat, du nom du capitaine de frégate Arturo Prat, plus grand héros de la Marine Chilienne.
In 1818, the first naval school was founded under the name of Academia de Jóvenes Guardias Marinas. In 1945, it was renamed Escuela Naval Arturo Prat, after the frigate captain Arturo Prat, the greatest hero of the Chilean Navy.
