Jeton énigmatique car léger mais de bon style, avec une différence de coin de revers avec notre fjt_081258 et donc la description de Feuardent puisqu’il se trouve une épée dans l’axe du revers. L’axe des coins à 12 n’est pas conforme aux usages ni à l’autre exemplaire mais la qualité de la gravure ne fait pas penser à une production allemande. Ce n’est pas un faux et le métal sonne bien, enquête à suivre.

The die axis at 12 is not in accordance with the uses nor with the other example but the quality of the engraving does not suggest a German production. François II is the eldest son of Henri II and Catherine de Médicis. he married in 1558 Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotland and became king in 1559 following the accidental death of his father. He gave up all his power to his wife's Lorraine uncles, François, Duke of Guise and Charles, Duke of Lorraine. This provoked opposition from the Protestant leaders Antoine de Bourbon, the Prince de Condé and the Colignys and led to the Conspiracy of Amboise in which they planned to kidnap the king. The king died in 1560 leaving no posterity.
