Le Parc National Militaire de Vicksburg a été édifié sur le site du siège de Vicksburg. La ville tomba entre les mains des nordistes en 1863 permettant le contrôle du fleuve Mississippi.
Launched in early 2010, 'America the Beautiful' is a program of 56 commemorative quarter dollar coins depicting national parks and other national sites of the United States of America. Vicksburg National Military Park was built on the site of the Siege of Vicksburg. The city fell to the Union in 1863, allowing control of the Mississippi River.
