La médaille, conservée dans un magnifique coffret en gutta-percha (matériau synthétique semblable au bois) ouvragé de feuilles de chêne et gland à feutrine violette gaufrée, a été décernée à A. Majot en prix pour le travail des cheveux féminins (coiffure).
Un exemplaire similaire en bronze nickelé est conservé dans les collections de l’université d’Harvard, département des instruments scientifiques, avec son étui d’origine doublé de velours bleu roi gaufré.
The medal, preserved in a magnificent box made of gutta-percha (a synthetic material similar to wood) decorated with oak leaves and acorns with embossed purple felt, was awarded to A. Majot as a prize for work on women's hair (hairdressing). A similar example in nickel-plated bronze is preserved in the collections of Harvard University, Department of Scientific Instruments, with its original case lined with embossed royal blue velvet.
