La représentation du revers rappelle que Joseph Philip exploita le privilège de la distribution des médicaments dans les provinces pour le compte du Roi. C'est pour prouver qu'il n'était pas empoisonneur dans l'exercice de cette lucrative exploitation qu'il fit représenter cette scène sur ce jeton. Il s’agit bien la refrappe inscrite dans le Feuardent sous la référence F.4669.
