Avant cette série, nous n’avions proposé que deux quarts de statères des Cénomans ; le n° 362 de MONNAIES II et le n° 626 de MONNAIES IV.
Cet exemplaire correspond au LT. 6875 qui est lui-même repris pour illustrer le Nouvel Atlas DT. 2160, considéré comme un type original, dans le sens où il ne correspond à aucun statère unitaire connu. Probablement du même coin de revers que le BN 6875.

GALLIA - AULERCI CENOMANI (Area of Le Mans)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
The Aulerci are a very large people who are subdivided into three large tribes, including the Aulerci Cenomani who were located to the south-east of the Aulerci Diablintes (Mayenne basin), in the current department of Sarthe. Their city in the Gallo-Roman era, Vindunum, perpetuates their name in the form of Le Mans. In 52 BC, they provided a contingent of five thousand men for the relief army of Vercingetorix, besieged in Alesia. Caesar (BG. VII, 75). Kruta: 72, 187, 266.
