5ème pièce de 2 Euro commémorative circulante de la série allemande des 16 Länder. La région représentée en 2010 est Brême, le plus petit des länder, constitué de 2 villes séparées de 60 km. Les monuments choisis pour l’illustrer sont l’hôtel de ville et la statue de Roland sur la place du marché. Ces sites sont classés au patrimoine mondial de l’Unesco depuis 2004. L’hôtel de ville érigé de 1405 à 1410 en style gothique a été remanié au XVIIème siècle et agrémenté d’une façade Renaissance. Il abrite aujourd’hui un célèbre restaurant. La statue de Roland date de 1404. Roland, paladin de Charlemagne, est le protecteur de la ville de Brême.
Une innovation est à noter par rapport aux précédentes 2 Euro commémoratives allemandes. À partir de 2010 la mention “Bundesrepublik Deutschland” qui apparaissait à l’avers est remplacé par la lettre D. Ceci afin de se conformer aux directives de la commission Européenne sur la présence et la disposition des 12 étoiles du drapeau européen.

The town hall, built between 1405 and 1410 in Gothic style, was remodeled in the 17th century and decorated with a Renaissance façade. It now houses a famous restaurant. The statue of Roland dates from 1404. Roland, paladin of Charlemagne, is the protector of the city of Bremen. An innovation should be noted compared to previous German commemorative 2 Euro coins. From 2010 the words “Bundesrepublik Deutschland” which appeared on the obverse were replaced by the letter D. This was in order to comply with the directives of the European Commission on the presence and arrangement of the 12 stars of the European flag.
