Cette 2 Euro célèbre les “150 ans de l’union des Îles ioniennes à la grèce (1864-2014)”.
Sous protectorat britannique depuis 1815, les îles ioniennes sont rétrocédées à la Grèce en 1864.
Les sept principales îles ioniennes sont: Corfou, Paxos, Leucade, Ithaque, Céphalonie, Zante et Cythère.
