This province which is located in the center of Honshu is the only one to have a real autonomous monetary system. It strikes only gold coins on the initiative of the local lords. The gold monetary system includes the Riyo which is worth 4 Bu or 16 Shiu or 32 Shiunaka or 64 Itome or 128 Koitome or 256 Koitome naka. In the 16th century, the gold-silver ratio was set at around 1 to 10.
