JORDAN - KINGDOM OF JORDAN - HUSSEIN
(1951-1998)
Hussein (1935-1998) is the son of King Abdullah who was assassinated in 1951. Engaged in the Six Day War in 1967, he lost the West Bank. In 1970, he expelled the Palestinians (Black September), then reconciled with Arafat. Finally, a peace treaty was signed between Israel and Jordan in 1994. The king died of cancer in 1998.
