The episcopate of Thierry V is inserted between those of Jean III of Vienne (1361-1365) and Raoul de Coucy (1387-1415). On September 25, 1383, at the end of his episcopate, Thierry sold his right to mint the Metz mint to the city for 4,000 gold francs from the kingdom of France..
