Ce buste, absolument exceptionnel, n'a été rencontré par Feuardent qu'une fois, comme en témoigne l'état très médiocre de son exemplaire reproduit sur ses planches Il le date de 1613 mais le portrait physique date problement d'avant 1605.
This bust, absolutely exceptional, was only encountered by Feuardent once, as evidenced by the very poor condition of the example reproduced on his plates. He dates it from 1613 but the physical portrait probably dates from before 1605.

LOUIS XIII THE JUST

Louis XIII was born on September 27, 1601. He became king on the assassination of Henri IV on May 14, 1610 and was crowned on October 17, 1610. During his minority, the regency was entrusted to Marie de Médicis. Sully resigned in 1611, Concini became Queen's Counsel and was appointed Marshal of France in 1613. The revolt of the Great forces the Queen to convene the States General in 1614, the last time before the Revolution. The king became an adult at the age of 13 and married Anne of Austria (1601-1666) on November 28, 1615. Richelieu entered the Council in 1616 at the request of Concini who was assassinated on April 24, 1617 by the captain of the guards, Vitry. Louis XIII exiled his mother to Blois then reconciled with her, thanks to Richelieu, in 1619 but Marie revolted again in 1620. In 1621, de Luynes, a friend of Louis XIII, was appointed constable of France. Richelieu is named cardinal in 1622 and enters the Council, he is prime minister in 1624.
