Sur ce tétradrachme, Macrin porte le nomen de Severus. Il se place comme l'héritier de Septime Sévère et il donnera le nom d'Antoninus (Antonin comme Caracalla) à son propre fils, le césar Diaduménien. Au revers, nous trouvons la mention de “Pater Patriae” (PP), père de la patrie. Les portraits de Macrin sur les tétradrachmes sont parfois stylisés ou hiératiques. Il semble ici taillé à la serpe et ressemble à son prédécesseur, Caracalla, sur cet exemplaire de Laodicée. L’actuelle Lattaquié, fondée par Séleucos Ier (306-280 avant J.-C.) en l'honneur de sa mère, était l'un des plus grands ports de la côte syrienne. L'atelier avait déjà été utilisé par Septime Sévère et Caracalla.

He places himself as the heir of Septimius Severus and he will give the name of Antoninus (Antoninus like Caracalla) to his own son, the Caesar Diadumenianus. On the reverse, we find the mention of “Pater Patriae” (PP), father of the fatherland. The portraits of Macrinus on the tetradrachms are sometimes stylized or hieratic. Here he seems to be carved with a billhook and resembles his predecessor, Caracalla, on this example from Laodicea.
