Les Hévin seraient originaires d’Irlande et descendent de Jean qui vint s’établir à Arras en 1537. On les trouve ensuite en Bretagne. La famille compte un célèbre jurisconsulte Pierre Hévin qui était conseiller au présidial. Il est le père de Jacques-Jean Hévin, maire de Rennes et décédé en 1758 auquel nous attribuons ces jetons (source : http://perso.wanadoo.fr/odile.halbert/Famille/Hevin.pdf). Ce jeton de 1762 serait une frappe posthume.

The family includes a famous legal adviser, Pierre Hévin, who was a councilor at the presidial court. He is the father of Jacques-Jean Hévin, mayor of Rennes, who died in 1758, to whom we attribute these tokens (source: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/odile.halbert/Famille/Hevin.pdf). This 1762 token is said to have been struck posthumously.

Condate of the Redones, the city became an important crossroads under the Romans. In the 9th century, the counts of Rennes united Brittany and became dukes of Brittany.
