Cet exemplaire, remis suite à une conférence sur l’application de l’analyse spectrale à l’astronomie physique, a été décerné à Éleuthère Mascart (1837-1908), professeur au Lycée Napoléon (Lycée Henri IV) et physicien. Il dirigea le Bureau central météorologique, et installa une station d'observation au sommet de la tour Eiffel.
Louis Jacques Thénard (1777-1857) est un chimiste français, professeur au Collège de France, à l'École polytechnique et à la faculté des sciences de Paris, député puis pair de France, vice-président du conseil royal de l'instruction publique et chancelier de l'Université.
This example, presented following a conference on the application of spectral analysis to physical astronomy, was awarded to Éleuthère Mascart (1837-1908), professor at the Lycée Napoléon (Lycée Henri IV) and physicist. He directed the Central Meteorological Office, and installed an observation station at the top of the Eiffel Tower.
