Exemplaire sur un petit flan épais, bien centré des deux côtés. Beau portrait. Revers bien venu à la frappe. A été nettoyé anciennement. Patine grise superficielle granuleuse et légèrement piquée

Au droit, les rubans flottent au vent derrière la tête de Séleucus II. Le coin de droit est de mauvaise qualité et laisse apparaître des défauts de laminage derrière la tête renforcé par l’aspect rugueux du métal. Au revers, le style est encore bon. Nous n ‘avons pas relevé d’identité de coin pertinente malgré un monnayage peu abondant. Mêmes coins que l’exemplaire du trésor d’Asie Mineure, ou Syrie du Nord, 1970, n° 121 pl. 7.
On the obverse, the ribbons flutter in the wind behind the head of Seleucus II. The obverse die is of poor quality and reveals lamination defects behind the head reinforced by the rough appearance of the metal. On the reverse, the style is still good. We have not noted any relevant die identity despite a sparse coinage. Same dies as the copy from the Asia Minor treasure, or North Syria, 1970, no. 121 pl. 7

SYRIA - SELEUKID KINGDOM - SELEUKOS II KALLINIKOS
(246-226 BC)
Seleucus II, the eldest son of Antiochus II and Laodice, acceded to the throne the same year as Ptolemy III in 246 BC, coinciding with the start of the Third Syrian War. Peace between Lagides and Seleucids was signed that year. Seleucus II, beaten by his brother at Ancyra in 239 BC, began a campaign against the Parthians in 231, then died in 226 BC, victim of a fall from his horse after an insignificant reign of twenty years.
