Poids lourd. Au revers, le mollusque, décrit comme une écrevisse, est incertain. Sur cet exemplaire, la tête de Méduse bien que saisissante semble remplacée par une tête d’Apollon.

THRACE - APOLLONIA PONTICA
(4th century BC)
Apollonia Pontica, located on Pont-Euxin was a Milesian colony. The city was famous for its temple of Apollo and its colossal statue, the work of Kalamis. When Lucullus captured the city in 73 BC, he had the statue of the god transported to Rome.
