Le droit est une reprise de la médaille du chemin de fer de Paris à Saint-Germain inauguré le 24 août 1837, origine du réseau des chemins de fer de l'Ouest depuis la loi du 9 juillet 1835. La locomotive au droit est une Seguin, modèle 1829, première locomotive française à tube de fumée.
Notre médaille commémore la liquidation le 1er janvier 1909 de la Compagnie des chemins de fer de l'Ouest pour former une partie du réseau État. Le 21 août 1937, la fusion des cinq compagnies concessionnaires, Nord, Est, Paris-Orléans, PLM, État, Alsace Lorraine permettent la naissance de la S.N.C.F..
The right is a resumption of the medal of the Paris to Saint-Germain railway inaugurated on August 24, 1837, origin of the Western railway network since the law of July 9, 1835. The locomotive on the right is a Seguin, model 1829, the first French smoke tube locomotive. Our medal commemorates the liquidation on January 1, 1909 of the Western Railway Company to form part of the State network. On August 21, 1937, the merger of the five concessionary companies, Nord, Est, Paris-Orléans, PLM, État, Alsace Lorraine allowed the birth of the SNCF

The railway from Paris to Saint-Germain, inaugurated on August 24, 1837, is at the origin of the western railway network since the law of July 9, 1835. One of the locomotives used is a Seguin, model 1829 , the first French smoke tube locomotive. The Western Railway Company was liquidated in 1909 to form part of the state network. On August 31, 1937, the forced merger of the five concessionary companies, North, East, Paris-Orléans, PLM, State, Alsace Lorraine gave birth to the SNCF.
