Alexandre Yersin (1863-1943) est un médecin, bactériologiste et explorateur franco-suisse. Devenu médecin en 1888, disciple de Pasteur, il embarque dans les Messageries maritimes en 1890 et découvre l’Indochine française. Il découvre la bacille de la peste lorsqu’il est à Hong Kong en 1894.

Alexandre Yersin (1863-1943) was a Franco-Swiss physician, bacteriologist, and explorer. A disciple of Pasteur, he became a doctor in 1888 and joined the Messageries Maritimes in 1890, where he discovered French Indochina. He discovered the plague bacillus while in Hong Kong in 1894.
