Médaille attribuée en 1906 à Alexandre Bérard, député de l’Ain (élection de Trévoux). Il naquit le 3 février 1859 à Lyon et décéda le 20 avril 1923 à Paris. Il fut député de l’Ain de 1893 à 1908 et occupa différentes fonctions importantes : vice-président du Sénat (1919-1923), sous-sécrétaire d’État aux Postes et Télégraphes (1802-1906), sénateur de l’Ain (1908-1923), conseiller général d’Ambérieu (1886-1923), présente du Conseil général de l’AIn (1909-1923). Il fut initié franc-maçon en 1882 au sein d’un loge lyonnaise du Grand Orient de France. Il est connu pour ses positions anticléricales et était membre du gouvernement lors de l’adoption de la Loi de séparation des Églises et de l’État.
