La classe II est divisée en trois sous-classes ; IIa pour les diamètres inférieurs à 15 mm, IIb pour les diamètres entre 15 et 17 mm, IIc pour les diamètres supérieurs à 17 mm. Cet exemplaire a un diamètre de 15,5 mm au droit et 17 mm au revers.

TURONES (Area of Touraine)

(2nd - 1st century BC)

The people of the Turons, settled on the Loire, left their name to Tours and Touraine. They are quoted several times in Caesar's Commentaries. They seem to have grown in importance after the disappearance of the Arverne empire in 121 BC. Like the Pictons, the Turons provided eight thousand men for the relief army which was to release Alesia. Their main oppidum seems to have been placed near the site of Amboise. Caesar (BG. II, 35; VII, 4, 75; VIII, 46).
