La monnaie originale DT. 663 constitue la classe II du monnayage de bronze anépigraphe. La classe I étant constitué des bronzes du dépôt de Saint-André-sur-Cailly.
Le DT. 663 était considéré comme unique et provient des dragages de la Seine en amont de Rouen (Seine-Maritime). La double frappe du DT. 663 au niveau du droit rendait confus le type de tête avec l’oeil. Cet exemplaire permet de mieux le comprendre.
Semble être issu d’un coin de droit très proche, si ce n’est le même, mais d’un autre coin de revers !.
The original coin DT. 663 constitutes Class II of the anepigraphic bronze coinage. Class I consists of bronzes from the Saint-André-sur-Cailly depot. DT. 663 was considered unique and comes from the dredging of the Seine upstream of Rouen (Seine-Maritime). The double striking of DT. 663 on the obverse confused the type of head with the eye. This example allows us to better understand it. It seems to come from a very similar obverse die, if not the same one, but from another reverse die!

The Véliocasses, people of Belgian Gaul, lived in the Norman Vexin located in the current department of Seine-Maritime. Their neighbors were the Lexovians and the Aulerci Éburovices, with the Seine as their border, and on the other side the Parisii, the Calètes and the Bellovaques. They participated in the Belgian coalition of 57 BC, led by the Bellovaques and provided a contingent of ten thousand men. But in 52 BC, for the relief army to release Vercingetorix besieged in Alesia, they only gave three thousand men. The following year, in 51 BC, they took part for the last time in the coalition of the Belgians in revolt under the leadership of the Bellovaques. Their main oppidum was Rouen (Rotomagus).
