He was born on January 13, 915 in Cordoba. It was under his reign that the caliphate reached its peak. A great scholar, he succeeded his father, Abd Al-Rahman III, on October 15, 961. He worked to continue the policy of emancipation from Baghdad and to develop Cordoba to make it one of the most important cities in Europe. He carries out the most beautiful and important extension of the Mosque of Cordoba and completes the construction of the Medina al-Zahara.
