Après quelques victoires contre les Espagnols, dont celle d'Amiens en septembre 1597, la paix est signée avec l'Espagne en mai 1598. Malgré l'opposition de l'Assemblée, l'édit de pacification religieuse de Nantes est signé cette même année.
After several victories against the Spanish, including that of Amiens in September 1597, peace was signed with Spain in May 1598. Despite the opposition of the Assembly, the Edict of Religious Pacification of Nantes was signed that same year.

CLERGY ASSEMBLY AND RELIGIOUS JETONS
The Assembly of the Clergy is the ecclesiastical institution of France under the Ancien Régime. It enjoys the protection of the King and tax immunity (formulated during the Lateran Councils III and IV - 1179 and 1215). There are two kinds of assemblies: the small ones, called "account assemblies", which bring together thirty-two deputies (two per province); and the large assemblies (sixty-four deputies) called upon to resolve questions of a religious nature (relations with Rome, the Protestants, Jansenism, etc.).
