La fut commandée en 1723 par l’empereur Charles VI. Elle fut installée au sein du palais impérial à Vienne. Richement ornée de statues, de fresques et de dorures, elle compte également une collection de plus de 200 000 livres datant pour les plus anciens du XVIe siècle.

The library was commissioned in 1723 by Emperor Charles VI. It was installed within the Imperial Palace in Vienna. Richly decorated with statues, frescoes, and gilding, it also houses a collection of more than 200,000 books, the oldest of which date back to the 16th century. (1918-1938)
When the Austro-Hungarian Empire collapsed, Charles I (1887-1922) abdicated and the Republic was proclaimed. Defeated Austria, torn apart by the Treaties of Sèvres and Trianon, fell victim to galloping inflation between 1922 and 1924. The crisis of 29 (Black Thursday) began with the bankruptcy of an Austrian bank. From 1932, the new strongman was Engelbert Dollfuss (1892-1934). He was assassinated in 1934 by the Nazis. The Anchluss (reunion of Austria and Germany) is carried out by Adolf Hitler on March 12, 1938.
