Marie Alexandre Lucien Coudray (Paris 21 février 1864 - 1932), est un sculpteur, graveur et médailleur français. En 1882, il entre à l'école nationale supérieure des beaux-arts. Il est l'élève d'Auguste Dumont, Gabriel-Jules Thomas, Henri Émile Allouard et d'Hubert Ponscarme. Premier grand prix de Rome en gravure de médailles en 1893 pour son œuvre Orphée endort Cerbère aux sons de sa lyre. Ses médailles sont signées L.Coudray...

Marie Alexandre Lucien Coudray (Paris, February 21, 1864 - 1932) was a French sculptor, engraver, and medalist. In 1882, he entered the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts. He was a student of Auguste Dumont, Gabriel-Jules Thomas, Henri Émile Allouard, and Hubert Ponscarme. He won the First Grand Prix de Rome in medal engraving in 1893 for his work Orpheus Puts Cerberus to Sleep with the Sound of His Lyre. His medals are signed L. Coudray.

Leopold II (9/04/1835-17/12/1909) is the eldest son of Leopold I and Louise d'Orléans. He married Marie-Henriette, Archduchess of Austria, who bore him three daughters: Louise, Stéphanie, and Clémentine. He relied on England to repel the aims of Napoleon III in 1866-1869. His reign was marked by the economic and industrial development of Belgium, which also became a great colonial power thanks to the personal annexation of the Congo by the king at the Congress of Berlin in 1885. Without a male heir, his nephew Albert I succeeded him. in 1909. He bequeathed the Congo to Belgium in 1908.
