Semble de mêmes coins que l’exemplaire de l’American Numismatic Society (ANS. 216, pl. 7). Notre exemplaire présente un début de cassure de coin perceptible au droit, partant de la légende et passant par les jambes d’Apollon.
Appears to be the same dies as the American Numismatic Society example (ANS. 216, pl. 7). Our example has the beginnings of a die break visible on the obverse, starting from the legend and passing through Apollo's legs.

BRUTTIUM - KAULONIA
(5th century BC)
Caulonia is an Achaean colony founded at the end of the 7th century BC. Another tradition makes Caulonia a Crotonian colony. Caulon, son of the Amazon Clete would be the eponymous hero of the city. The city was finally destroyed by Dionysius of Syracuse in 388 BC. Its inhabitants were deported to Syracuse while its territory was annexed by the Locrians. The city of Caulonia was later rebuilt, but never regained its former fame.
