Rubans de type 2. M. Prieur fait remarquer qu’un tissu est posé sur le trône, il pourrait s’agir du paludamentum (manteau de pourpre rouge du général victorieux, puis de l’empereur). Les deux seuls exemplaires signalés sont ceux de l’ANS de New York et de l’Ashmolean Museum d’Oxford. Sur cet exemplaire, les traits de Domitien ressemblent encore à ceux de Titus, son frère et son prédécesseur. C’est la première fois que nous proposons ce type à la vente.

The only two examples reported are those of the ANS in New York and the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. On this example, Domitian's features still resemble those of Titus, his brother and predecessor. This is the first time we have offered this type for sale.

Augustus
Domitian, born in 51, became august in 81, succeeding his brother. In 86, the Capitoline games were organized for the first time. The Flavian Palace is erected on the Palatine. In 88, the secular games were celebrated with pomp. A first campaign is launched on Dacia which ends with a peace of compromise, leaving Decebalus master of the situation. Domitian has just won a brilliant campaign against the Sarmatians and the Suevi (IMP XXII). Agricola died in disgrace on August 23, 93. In 95, Domitian had Flavius Clemens, his cousin, executed. The following year, Domitian will be assassinated at the instigation of his wife and the prefect of the Praetorium.
