Ce type exacte n’appartient pas à la série J à l’oiseau, mais n’appartient pas non plus à la série BIIIc.
La tête a une petite croisette devant le visage et le revers est très stylisé !
L’exemplaire BGJ10 de T. Abramson, du même type et du même style que celui proposé ici, est considéré comme une mule de la série B ou G/J.
Il semblerait que ce type, particulièrement stylisé, aurait été frappé en bas alliage, parfois proche du bronze.
This exact type does not belong to the J bird series, but it does not belong to the BIIIc series either. The head has a small cross in front of the face and the reverse is very stylized! T. Abramson's BGJ10, of the same type and style as the one offered here, is considered a mule of the B or G/J series. It would seem that this particularly stylized type would have been struck in low alloy, sometimes close to bronze

(7th - 8th centuries)
If the minting of these coins is to be located at the beginning of the 8th century, in Great Britain, it is not exceptional to find them in Gaul. They are often confused with Merovingian silver coins (cf. MONNAIES XIX, n° 503, sceattas c. 680-710, classified in Merovingian denier of Laon). During the 8th century, the style of these pieces is more and more degenerated, they are often in ridge or filled. These coins disappeared from circulation in the second half of the 8th century.
