Martín Vázquez de Arce, le Doncel de Sigüenza, (1461 - Grenade, Juillet 1486) était un aristocrate et militaire castillan. La date et le lieu exact de sa naissance ne sont pas connus contrairement aux circonstances de sa mort survenue pendant les guerres de Grenade. Il est devenu célèbre comme personnage romantique par la sérénité et l'aspect méditatif de sa tombe située dans la cathédrale de Sigüenza, l'un des joyaux de la statuaire funéraire de tous les temps et un symbole de la ville. (1476-1516)
Isabella (1451-1504) had been Queen of Castile since 1474. She had married Ferdinand of Aragon (1452-1516), King of Aragon since 1479. After the capture of Granada in 1492, they were monarchs of the whole of Spain. Isabelle helped Christopher Columbus finance the expedition that allowed him to discover America.
