Très bel exemplaire de frappe vigoureuse, avec de beaux reliefs, mais sur un flan court. Agréable et épaisse patine sombre

Le style un peu dégénéré et les types de droit et de revers à gauche font rapprocher ce statère du DT 2324. Il appartient à la variante 4, dite “à la petite tête dans la bouche”.
The only other example with a head on the left seems to be bga_308995. The slightly degenerate style and the obverse and reverse types on the left bring this stater closer to DT 2324. It belongs to variant 4, called “with the small head in the mouth”.

The Aulerci are a very large people who are subdivided into three large tribes, including the Aulerci Diablintes who were located to the northwest of the Aulerci Cénomans, in the Mayenne basin. Gold coins are attributed to them, of the Cenoman type but with a particular reverse, as well as weakly represented billon coins, known from surface research and excavations of the late sanctuary of Juvigné..
