Bronze complet au droit, avec un centrage idéal. Le revers est légèrement décentré et mal frappé avec un défaut de métal qui le rend un peu confus. Patine sombre sur des reliefs assez mous

Avec seulement la légende ROVECA à peine visible à l’exergue, ce bronze peut être classé précisément à la classe Ib. Le rinceau est en bord de flan au droit, autour de la tête.

GALLIA BELGICA - MELDI (Area of Meaux)
(1st century BC)
The Meldes are mentioned only once in Caesar's work. This small people lived between the Seine and the Marne in the plain of Brie with Meaux as its capital. The Meldes emancipated themselves late from the tutelage of the Suessions and the Remes at the time of the Gallic Wars. Having become independent in 57 BC, the Meldes chose to ally with the Romans. Caesar had sixty ships built by the Meldes, in 55 BC, for the expedition to Brittany. Caesar (BG. V, 5).
