La classe II se distingue par la présence d’un croissant au-dessus du groin au revers, au lieu de l’astre de la classe I. Le droit de cette classe II semble être systématiquement (et exclusivement sur cette classe) orné d’un globule au-dessus du torque. Cet exemplaire avec astre et croissant au revers et globule au droit appartiendrait à la Classe II de la série 194 de S. Scheers ou à la var. b de la classe II de la série 36 de L.-P. Delestrée.

The right of this class II seems to be systematically (and exclusively on this class) decorated with a globule above the torque. This example with star and crescent on the reverse and globule on the right would belong to Class II of the series 194 of S. Scheers or to the var. b of class II of series 36 of L.-P. Delestrée

GALLIA BELGICA - REMI (Area of Reims)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
The Remi were one of the most powerful peoples of Gaul and loyal allies of the Romans. The territory of the Rèmes extended over present-day Champagne, along the Aisne. They had for neighbors the Atuatuci, the Treveri, the Mediomatrics, the Lingones, the Suessions, the Bellovaci and the Nervians. They denounced to Caesar the coalition of Belgian peoples of 57 BC which included the Suessions who shared the same laws and the same magistrates. Their main oppidum was Bibrax. The capital of the civitas in Gallo-Roman times was Durocortorum (Reims). Caesar (BG. II, 3-5, 7, 12; III, 11; V, 3, 24, 53, 54, 56; VI, 4, 12, 44; VII, 63, 90; VIII, 6, 11) . Strabo (G. IV, 3, 5). Kruta: 70, 313-314, 366.
