Ce bronze est doublement intéressant, tant par le type que par la surfrappe. Ce type à l’aigle et à l’aiglon est très rare et le seul exemplaire publié jusqu’alors semble être le n° 812 de MONNAIES 31. Il est possible de déterminer le type de bronze qui a été surfrappé ; c’est le très rare bronze au loup LT. 6217 (DT. 2607), lui même attribué aux Carnutes. Le bout du front, le nez et l’oeil de la tête à droite de l’ancien type sont visibles dans la chevelure du nouveau type. Au revers, les bout des pattes du loup et l’annelet pointé sont visibles au-dessus de l’aigle.
Typologiquement, ce type à l’aigle semble pouvoir s’intégrer dans la série des bronzes Carnutes.
This bronze is doubly interesting, both for its type and for its overstrike. This type with the eagle and eaglet is very rare and the only example published so far seems to be no. 812 of COINS 31.
