Cet exemplaire présente un type de chevelure qui se distingue des quatre monnaies illustrées dans le Moneta 36. Les auteurs précisent bien buste et sanglier à gauche, mais illustrent une monnaie type (BN 4309) avec sanglier à droite. Ces monnaies étaient classées aux Bituriges Cubi. Le sanglier du revers est hybride, car il peut être lu à droite ou a gauche selon les jambes que l'on considère.

GALLIA - SOUTH WESTERN GAUL - PETROCORII (Area of Perigueux)
(1st century BC)
The Pétrocoriens or Pétrocores whose territory extended between the Dordogne and the Vézère on the current department of the Dordogne, (the former Périgord) had Périgueux for capital. They were part of Celtic Gaul and will then be attached to Aquitaine. They appear late as the Nitiobroges at the time of the final phase of the Gallic Wars. They provided a contingent of 5,000 men to the relief army. Strabo pointed out that the Petrocores were very good metallurgists and worked iron. Sources: Caesar (BG. VII, 75, Strabo IV, 2, 2).
