Monnaie fourrée, sur un flan quadrangulaire, avec un droit complet et un revers très bien centré (seulement avec la tête du cheval hors flan). Patine grise, légèrement hétérogène avec d’infimes manques de la pellicule d’argent sur les points les plus en reliefs où le cuivre rouge est visible en surface

正面的说明书 Tête bouclée à droite, l'arcade sourcilière bien marquée ; chevelure bouclée assez basse ; bouche faite de deux traits ; grènetis et semis de perles.

Monnaie légère en raison du flan fourré, mais avec des types complets. Le droit est d’un très bon style avec une tête nettement plus complète, mais qui semble correspondre au S. 458 (avec un cou bien marqué et des globules dans la chevelure).
Au revers, la légende COVRA est nette et complète sous le cheval mais NTILLOS est très en bord de flan, illisible, au-dessus du cheval.
Les monnaies à la croix épigraphe sont très recherchées. Pour la légende COVRANTILLOS, seulement 17 exemplaires ont été répertoriés par R. Boudet ; deux en collections privées, deux à la BN, un au musée de Toulouse, trois dans le trésor du Causé et six provenant de Vieille-Toulouse. Les trois restantes étant passées en ventes.

The obverse is of a very good style with a clearly more complete head, but which seems to correspond to S. 458 (with a well-marked neck and globules in the hair). On the reverse, the legend COVRA is clear and complete under the horse but NTILLOS is very much at the edge of the flan, illegible, above the horse. Coins with the epigraph cross are very sought after. For the legend COVRANTILLOS, only 17 examples have been listed by R. Boudet; two in private collections, two at the BN, one at the Toulouse museum, three in the Causé treasure and six from Vieille-Toulouse. The remaining three having passed through auctions

(1st century BC)
Neighbors of the Arvernes, the Cadurques and the Gabales, their territory corresponded to the former Rouergue (current department of Aveyron) to the north of the Tarn, the course of which constituted the border with the province of Narbonnaise. The Rutenes, allies of the Arvernes, had participated in the operations which led to the defeat of Bituit, king of the Arvernes in 121 BC and the creation of the province of Narbonnaise. On this occasion, the Rutenes had found themselves cut in two, following the natural border of the Tarn. Active in the coalition against the Romans in 52 BC, they provided a contingent of 12,000 men to the relief army. Sources: Caesar (BG. I, 45; VII, 5, 64, 75 and 90).
