Autonomous Coinage

Tripolis, perhaps to be identified with Apollonia of Lydia, not far from Thyatira, is placed between the valleys of the Lycus and the Meander. It seems to have had, according to B. Head, a heterogeneous population, composed of Lydians, Phrygians and Carians. The imperial coinage begins under Augustus to end with Gallienus.
