The slave revolt was bloodily crushed in 132 BC and Sicily reorganized under the "lex Rupilia". In 131 BC, the "lex Tabellaria" or "tabellar law" of the tribune Papirius Carbo aims to introduce the secret ballot for the election of the Comices and the possibility of re-electing the tribunes of the plebs.
